Jan Türk

Born in Bavaria, he gained his first musical experience playing the trombone in brass ensembles and big bands, before switching to percussion during his teen years. Having gained a thorough grounding through lessons with a number of different teachers, he was soon able to start getting involved in bands (in particular rock and metal). With one of his early bands, he was able to secure victory in a newcomer competition that came with a management contract and record production.

Jan successfully completed a one-year full-time professional course at the Modern Music School, and received jazz drums and vibraphone teaching from Joachim Holzhauser at the University of Augsburg as part of his teacher training. He also took part in workshops and masterclasses with Wolfgang Haffner, Chad Wackermann, Danny Gottlieb and Simon Phillips, among others.

Over the years, he’s played numerous tours throughout Europe with Kensington Road, as well as big open-air concerts such as Full Force or the Taubertal Festival. In 2018, the album “Lumidor” by his band Kensington Road reached number 30 in the official German album charts.

Jan specializes in pop, hip-hop, soul, funk, Latin, rock and metal. He’s had training in our thePlanetDrum teaching method, and has been teaching with us since mid-2018.
