Bennet’s musical inclinations were apparent from a very early age. As a baby he used to use his grandma’s cookie tins as drums, and by age five he was having his first percussion lessons.
He won a national prize at the Jugend Musiziert youth project, then played on stages in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Venezuela and Ecuador as a classical percussionist with the German National Youth Orchestra. One particular highlight was a concert with Sting as part of the Symphonicity Tour.
His passion for music and percussion also came out in his academic studies, which started off with a Bachelor’s in classical percussion at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, followed by a jazz percussion course at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
The styles Bennet specializes in include hip hop, RnB, fusion, jazz, pop and rock. In 2019, Bennet came to thePlanetDrum as a student to expand his repertoire. He then received training in our thePlanetDrum teaching style, and he’s been part of our teaching staff since September 2019.
